How many times have you seen one of these headlines? The promise of a quick buck, or all the money you can dream of if you only follow the directions in the program they are selling?

If you want to really make money online, you can….but it’s not going to happen overnight, and it may not come easy. But don’t fret, it can be done and it doesn’t have to be as hard as it may seem…even if you have no experience at all.

There is a tendency sometimes as an internet newbie trying to make money online to expect instant gratification. After all, we are used to the internet delivering information to us in seconds. With digital products, we can make a purchase and download it right then and there. And if all these other people are claiming to make money in the first 3 days they start selling, it should be easy for us too, right?

It may be possible in in a few cases that someone is making the money they claim in just a few days, but understand that they probably had a head start. They already had a list of opt-in email subscribers that they just needed a product to promote to. Or maybe they made $10,000 in their first 3 days of heavy marketing in which they spent just as much to promote themselves.

To truly make legitimate money online, have patience and do your research. To make money, research the opportunities out there and decide if they are right for you. Making money on the web can be fun and rewarding, but the attempts to get there can be full of false starts and frustration. Keep at it….find what works, what doesn’t work, test all the time.

There are a few tools you can use to make your job easier if you want to make money from home online.

Don’t reinvent the wheel.

Sorry, clich? I know. But why try to do something that you have no idea if it works or not. Imitate what others are doing. Certain strategies such as affiliate promotions work, that is why they are so popular. If you can find something where someone has done all the work for you, you just need to market the product, what could be easier?

Don’t go it alone, get a partner

When I started out, I read all the e-books, experimented, spent long hours trying to figure things out on my own, and flopped! It wasn’t until I discovered online forums that I started to finally see some results. There are plenty of online forums of others that earn money from home, making money on the internet, and are willing and even eager to share their knowledge. I can’t tell you how many great ideas I came across that I had no clue were even out there. In a forum you can be pretty sure that if someone recommends something, probably it has worked for them. Generally, forums don’t allow you to make a sales pitch in your posts, in fact it is looked down on ( your signature box is for that ). So you can be pretty confident you are getting good information. A good forum to visit is the Warrior Forum.

Have patience, think long-term

Admit it….if you’re reading this and you’re trying to make legitimate money online, ultimately you want to make a living with your own home business. What brick and mortar business do you know of has ever set up shop, opened their doors and started to make money, lots of money, from day one? Maybe a rare few, but it just doesn’t happen. It takes time to build a buzz, to get your name out there, for people to know who you are, trust you, want to do business with you. The internet is the same way…in fact, it may be even worse because of the trust factor….a lot of people associate the internet with scams and fraud, and it may take a little longer before they are ready to purchase from you. That is where having a consistent follow up method and patience come in to play. You’re in this for the long run, and it takes time to build. If you’re looking to make quick money at home, you probably won’t be in business very long.

So there you have it. You can really make money online, but it takes research and work. Work smart, ask questions in forums, and have patience. It will come.
